NYSSBA’s 89th Annual Convention and Educational Trade Show will be held at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers in Manhattan Oct. 16-19. Online registration is available at http://www.regonline.com/Checkin.asp?EventId=619221.

More than 80 educational seminars – an increase of about 20 over last year – will be offered.

The “cast” of this Broadway-themed event includes:

The Convention will also include NYSSBA’s Annual Business Meeting, in which delegates from member school districts set NYSSBA’s advocacy agenda for the year.

Also, the 2008 recipient of the Everett R. Dyer Distinguished Service Award will be announced.

Attendees will be able to fulfill state requirements by taking a sequence of fiscal oversight courses. Also, all eight courses of the School Board Institute series will be offered.

Other features of the Convention include the Educational Trade Show, with nearly 160 commercial exhibits, museum tours, a student art show and a “town hall meeting” with Commissioner of Education Richard Mills.
