Dr. Olatokunbo (Toks) Fashola
Educating African American Males/ Preventing Minority Student Dropouts

Friday, Oct. 17, 9:00 a.m. – Noon

Why do some students return to school year after year excited and engaged, while others dread school, have negative feelings toward school or feel unable to cope with the challenges and demands of schools? Dr. Fashola, an expert on the effectiveness of comprehensive school reform programs, will discuss her research in this critical area and offer strategies for successful outcomes.

Dr. Sarah Armstrong
Leading Learning with the Brain in Mind

Friday, Oct. 17, 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Dr. Meredith Mountford
Maintaining Collegial Governance Team Relationships

Saturday, Oct. 18, 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Relationships between school boards and superintendents have been fraught at times with tension. This shouldn’t be surprising, given two centuries of multiple transfers of power and control between the two groups. Dr. Mountford will put it all into perspective and share how school boards and superintendents can maintain collegial relationships for the benefit of the students you serve.
