3. Decision-Making for Effective Governance

Examine four distinct communications styles that affect decision making. Learn to understand your peers and make good team decisions more effectively.

4. Community Collaboration for Student Achievement

Learn how to tap the talents of others for your students’ benefit. Learn how to build trust and teamwork as you focus on actions that unite rather than divide.

5. Setting Direction Vision, Goals and Standards

Learn how to craft a vision, establish goals, and transform both into reality. Explore effec-tive processes to ensure standards and goals are being met.

6. Affecting Culture and Climate

Discover how to establish a culture and climate that supports the achievement of district goals and performance standards.

7. Establishing Accountability, Assessment, and Continuous Improvement

Using policies and procedures for accountability, assessment, and continuous improvement, examine practical approaches to keeping your district on the right course.

8. Aligning Goals, Policies, and Resources

Learn the key factors to align strategies and resources for your district.

Building School District Fiscal Fitness (Module 3)

Learn what questions to ask and how to assess the answers as you study financial management and accounting practices that promote fiscal fitness.

Monitoring School District Fiscal Fitness (Module 4)

To properly oversee district finances, the board must acquire, assess, and act upon factual information. Learn what information your board should receive regularly, in what form, and from whom.

Preventing Fraud, Waste, and Abuse of District Resources (Module 5)
Friday, October 16, 10:45 a.m. – Noon
Learn common types of fraud, waste, and abuse of district resources, and the attitudes and conditions conducive to those diversions. Examine the policy and oversight actions your board can take to set the example and protect precious resources.
