FIS 212: Fund Balance Management –The Key to an Effective Budget

Faced with escalating operating costs and minimal increases in revenues, you must understand the importance of fund balance management to preserve educational programs. Operating deficits cannot be maintained indefinitely and an adequate fund balance must be maintained. This webinar will help you understand the various components of fund balance (restricted, assigned, unassigned, etc.) and how they can be utilized when developing the annual budget. Learn the concept of planned budget deficit vs. actual operating deficit and the long-term impact on fund balance. Understand how best to approach fund balance forecasting.
