Amber Thousand, a member of the Onondaga Central School District Board of Education, has been honored as School Board Member of the Week, part of an eight-week campaign celebrating school board service by the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA).
The campaign – entitled “Do You Know Who I Am?” – tells the story of individual school board members such as Thousand and the contributions they make in their communities. The campaign runs through March 21.
Thousand has been on the Onondaga Central School District Board of Education for two years. She is a graduate of Elon University and the University of Phoenix.
"It is unbelievably rewarding to be so close to the great things that are happening at Onondaga and to be part of a team that works hard to be a strong educational environment for students," said Thousand.
“It has been fantastic these last few years to see the support in the community grow.”
