With the start of the 2016 session just weeks away, the NYSSBA Governmental Relations team is already hard at work advancing the association's agenda. 

This year's priorities include:

Senate Action Expected on ESEA Reauthorization

Please contact your U.S. Senators and urge them to vote "Yes" for the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESEA).  The Senate is expected to vote on ESSA   today (Tuesday December 8th).  ESSA is the bipartisan, bicameral bill to modernize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and it was passed by the House on December 2nd. The legislation includes specific support for local school board governance and flexibility.

2016 National Advocacy Institute Registration is Open

Registration is open for the National School Boards Association’s National Advocacy Institute.  This federal conference and lobby day will take place on January 24-26, 2016 in Washington DC.

Unlike past years, registration to this event is completely open to all board members and community partners.
