FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION OF UNIT: Supervises, in collaboration with the building principal and the Chief of School Innovation for Career Pathways and Integrated Learning, the development, curriculum, supports, professional development, reporting, sustainability, and partner relationships relating to Career Pathways and shared-time Career and Technical Education programs.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning and Leadership:

  • Works with district leadership, building leadership, and school counselors to determine and review appropriate programs of study for Career Pathways and shared-time CTE programs.
  • Evaluates that Career Pathways and shared-time CTE programs are directly aligned to regional employment data and postsecondary opportunities.
  • Collaboratively determines and monitors pathway outcomes for Career Pathways and shared-time CTE programs.
  • Ensures equitable access to programs and services within Career Pathways and shared-time CTE programs.
  • Coordinates professional development within Career Pathways and shared-time CTE programs.
  • Supports the safety and security of pupils, personnel, buildings, and grounds within Career Pathways and shared-time CTE programs.
  • Manages instructional supplies and equipment within Career Pathways and shared-time CTE programs.
  • Provides an annual assessment of the infrastructure needs of Career Pathways and shared-time CTE programs including the need for renovations and additions to facilities, expansion/repurposing of staffing, equipment purchases, and acquisition and ongoing budgets for material and supplies.

Curriculum/Instruction/Assessment:

  • Supports the development of, and integration among, academic curriculum, technical curriculum, work based learning, and student services.
  • Analyzes student data with the school leader, teachers, and others school staff to inform curriculum, instruction, assessment, and student services.
  • Administers technical and other pathways assessments relating to specific programs of study.
  • Collaborates with teachers and partners to develop an employability skills curriculum that crosses academic and technical courses – and tracks student progress through the employability skills curriculum across courses and grade levels.
  • Coaches instructional staff on effective teaching and learning strategies.

Partnerships:

  • Coordinates various advisory committee meetings made up of diverse industry, postsecondary, community, parent, and student representatives.
  • Expands relationships to foster seamless transitions to apprenticeship programs, colleges, universities, on-the-job training, and other postsecondary education.
  • Aligns administrative, curriculum, and support services to related programmatic frameworks and models.
  • Creates and shares reports within the district and to other organizations as needed.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Additional duties as directed by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATION:

  • Masters’ Degree with a concentration in Career and Technical Education, Educational Leadership, or similar program of study.
  • Seven (7) years of appropriate teaching and/or administrative experience.
  • New York State Certification for School District Leader or School District Administrator.
  • Permanent New York State Teaching Certificate.

Salary Range:
$85,000 to $130,000
