Position Title:
District Superintendent

Position Description:
The Western Suffolk BOCES Board oversees the regional education service agency which serves 18 school districts within the towns of Babylon, Huntington and Smithtown on Long Island, New York. The Supervisory district encompasses 18 component districts within 210 square miles located in western Suffolk County. The District Superintendent will serve as the local representative of the State Commissioner of Education by assisting local school districts in the implementation of New York State Education Law and the interpretation of the Commissioner's Regulations and rules of the Board of Regents. The Commissioner may direct special assignments to the District Superintendent. The District Superintendent will support the Chief Operating Officer's efforts to assure that programs and services provided by the BOCES agency are of outstanding quality and meet student as well as school district needs. Compensation, salary and benefits for this position shall be determined by the Board on the basis of experience, training and other leadership positions, but limited by the provision of the New York State Education Law which has set specific salary and benefit limits. Qualifications:
The District Superintendent must be an individual who has been an effective administrator. New York State certification as a School District Administrator or School District Leader is required. Knowledge of New York State Education Law and Commissioner's Regulations are required.

Position Title:
School Business Administrator

Position Description:
Responsible for the overall operation of the district business office, food service program, buildings and grounds department and pupil transportation; Assists the Board of Education and the Superintendent of Schools in the development of the school budgets and provides all related financial and payroll functions which includes monitoring cash flow and investments, developing policies and procedures for general accounting, record keeping, purchasing, disbursement and custody of district funds; Responsible for evaluation, training and supervision of the business office and Supervisors of school services; Analyze and monitor on a daily basis the financial condition of the district and take corrective action as necessary by performing certain tasks or making recommendations for a change in the status of operations; Responsible to complete and file various local, state and federal reports required on a timely basis; Review major expenditures, grant approvals and school code requirements; Responsible for the coordination of the facility expansion or renovation programs; Serve as Chief Fiscal Advisor to the Superintendent of Schools and School Board providing advice/counsel on matters relating to the fiscal and business affairs of the school district; Attendance at all Board of Education meetings; Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.

Qualifications:
Any of the following New York State certifications: SBA, SDA, SDBL (or qualify for the Certificate of Internship for the SDBL) or meet Civil Service qualifications; Strong leadership, communication and problem solving skills; Experience in supervision, budgeting, facility upkeep, transportation operations, capital construction projects, and cafeteria operations is desirable; Demonstrated experience using technology as management/business/finance tool; Demonstrated ability to work as a member of an administrative team; Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools finds appropriate.

Salary Range:
Up to $105,000
