Mandated Training

New York State law requires mandatory training for newly elected school board members within their first year of office. That's right, newly elected school board members are required to take six hours of fiscal oversight training and governance skills training.

NYSSBA offers a couple of choices to complete your state-mandated training: 

REGIONAL WORKSHOPS

New School Board Member Academy 

• Day 1: Essentials of School Board Governance (fulfills mandatory training requirement)
• Day 2: Fiscal Oversight Fundamentals (fulfills mandated six-hour training)

ONLINE TRAINING

• Fiscal Oversight Fundamentals Online (fulfills mandated six-hour training over six weeks)
• Essentials of School Board Governance Online (fulfills mandatory training requirement over six weeks)
