Call to Action - ESEA Reauthorization Update


November 18, 2015

The House Education and the Workforce Committee and the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) has announced that Committee leaders are preparing for the next steps in the ESEA reauthorization process.  A reconciled bill could be considered by both chambers by December.

The 17 House Conferees have been named for the Conference Committee.

The Senate conferees have been announced and the full Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee has been appointed.

Tell your Congressional Representative’s about NYSSBA’s positions on ESEA. Read our Issue Brief  and send a letter sharing those positions.

2016 National Advocacy Institute Registration is Open

Registration is open for the National School Boards Association’s National Advocacy Institute.  This federal conference and lobby day will take place on January 24-26, 2016 in Washington DC.

Unlike past years, registration to this event is completely open to all board members and community partners.

Reminder: Comment on the NYSED Common Core Survey

The State Education Department has released a survey to review the Common Core Learning Standards.  Participants will have the ability to review each standard and provide feedback. Participants are not required to comment on every standard.

The survey will close November 30 so take the time before then to make your voice heard.
