Last week, the NYSSBA Governmental Relations team, in partnership with the NSBA conducted a webinar on key issues under consideration by Congress as they break for district work period. Highlights of the discussion include:

  • ESSA Implementation
  • Federal Funding
  • School Nutrition and the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act

Meet with your Congressional Representative

August district work period has commenced and the NYSSBA Governmental Relations team will be traveling around the state with our Board of Directors this month to meet with members of Congress and their staff in order to ensure that our message is heard.

Members of Congress are back in their districts until September 6th. This time is a great opportunity for your boards to meet locally with your representatives to share your positions on the issues of the day, including implementation of ESSA and federal funding.

NYSSBA Submits Comments on ESSA Accountability Regulations

On Friday NYSSBA submitted formal comments on the first round of ESSA regulations, dealing with accountability. NSBA submitted comments on the same day.  Both sets of comments can be read below.

As the rulemaking process continues NYSSBA will continue to  provide feedback. Continue to check back for additional updates.
