Call to Action: Oppose Tuition Tax Credits and Vouchers

March 8, 2017

Lawmakers at the state and federal level are continuing to demonstrate their support for the creation of tax credits and other programs that would divert public dollars to support nonpublic K-12 schools. President Trump mentioned the issue in his recent address to Congress. Congressman Steve King (R-IA) has introduced legislation that, if enacted, would require states to make federal dollars available to parents to use for private school tuition (HR 610). At the state level, three different proposals have been advanced in recent weeks to create tax credits for nonpublic school tuition and donations to scholarship programs and foundations (S.4366, Golden and S.5011, Golden and A.5862, Cusick).

Take action now. Contact your state and federal officials and tell them you oppose all versions of these proposals.
