FILE NOMINATING PETITIONS

Filing your nominating petitions

Here are the steps you need to take to file your nominating petitions and get your name on the ballot:

  1. Obtain a nominating petition from the school district clerk [View a sample petition].

  2. Get the signatures of at least 25 qualified district voters or 2 percent of the number of those who voted in the previous annual election, whichever is greater. In small city school districts, nominating petitions must be signed by at least 100 qualified voters.

  3. File the petition with the district clerk at least 30 days (20 days in small city districts) before the election.

Your next step is to launch your campaign and gather support from the community by developing a campaign theme or building an issue-by-issue platform.
