11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Email and the Open Meetings Law: When does it cross the line?
Email is a convenient way to communicate quickly and efficiently. Meeting packets are typically sent via email and board members may ask questions of the superintendent or raise issues brought to them by the public through email. How much communication between board members via email is too much?  Find out what procedures or protocols for email a board should follow to ensure the discussion of public business occurs at an open meeting as required by law.

1:00 - 1:45 p.m. Crackerbarrel Q&A
Now is your chance to get that nagging question answered. Ask your fellow clerks for advice about an issue you are dealing with in your district, or question the NYSSBA attorneys about a legal topic for which you are seeking greater understanding.
