Hear from special dinner speaker, NYS Regent Lester W. Young Jr., Ed.D.

Dr. Young will highlight current Regents’ priorities including early education and My Brother's Keeper.
A lifelong educator, Dr. Young has served as a teacher, guidance counselor, supervisor of special education, principal, Associate Commissioner with the New York State Education Department and Superintendent of Community School District 13. He also led the first N.Y.C. Office of Youth Development and School Community Services.

Speaker: Aminata Toumbou
Aminata is a senior at Albany High School. She was born in St. Louis, Senegal and raised in Albany, New York. Her unique upbringing fuels her passion to inform others about the issues that plague our society today. She speaks three languages:  Fula, French and English. When she heads to college in the fall she plans to major in Political Science with a concentration or minor in International Affairs.

Get a glimpse inside the executive budget proposal and hear about the governor’s top priorities for 2018.

The included meals are based on full conference participation and are the Sunday reception, dinner and Monday breakfast. All other meals will be on own.

Recognition Program
All NYSSBA member school boards are eligible for recognition in this program.  Credit will accrue for listed events and activities for individuals serving on a NYSSBA member board.
Board members will earn 20 points for attending the Capital Conference.

The host hotel is the Renaissance Albany Hotel, 144 State Street, Albany, NY 12207. The deadline for the room block at Renaissance Albany Hotel has past.

You are welcome to book at this hotel based on availability and prevailing rate.

If you wish to secure a reservation at a nearby property, another full service option is the Hilton Albany, 40 Lodge Street, Albany, NY 12207. The Hilton is a three-minute (.1 mile) walk from the host hotel. For reservations contact the hotel directly at (518) 427-3018.

All reservations must be accompanied by a first night room deposit or guaranteed with a major credit card. Hotel will not hold any reservations unless secured by one of the above methods. Hotel is unable to accept purchase orders to reserve accommodations.

For payment by district check, send the check, a copy of the tax exempt form and confirmation(s) to the hotel at least two weeks prior to the first arrival date. Hotels will not apply check payments that have not cleared the financial institution.  For payment by district credit card, send a copy of the tax exempt form and confirmation(s) to the hotel at least two weeks prior to the first arrival date. If a balance is due upon check-in, a credit card will be needed for method of payment. It is recommended to take a tax exempt form to check-in.

Tax Exemption
Hotels will not honor tax exempt status for charges paid by personal credit card. For those paying with district credit cards, tax can be removed upon receipt of a signed exemption certificate (NYS Department of Taxation and Finance ST-129) sent at least two weeks prior to the first arrival date.

Lodging Before or After Conference Dates
Should you need lodging prior to February 10 or after February 12, those arrangements can be made separately. You can reserve online at the hotel website. Prevailing rate and property policies will apply.

Standard self-parking fees will apply. All parking charges are the responsibility of the individuals who park in the hotel garage or other areas in downtown Albany.
