Learn how you can stay calm, defuse conflict and keep your dignity even when there is a difficult person on your board. Gain a better understanding of conflict styles and get tips for resolving conflict so that your board can make effective decisions.

Participate in this interactive session to learn strategies for successfully navigating your board meetings. Develop a better understanding of the norms, protocols and procedures that will help your board perform better at the meetings.

1:30 - 2:30 p.m. Building Relations with Your Superintendent
Effective board-superintendent relations revolve around clear definitions of roles and responsibilities, regular communication, trust and respect. Hear from a superintendent’s perspective how these principles and others contribute to a solid working relationship.

2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Panel Discussion: Speaking from Experience
Hear from experienced board officers about the lessons learned and best practices for leading a cohesive board. Find answers to your most pressing leadership questions.

Recognition Program:
All NYSSBA member school boards are eligible for recognition in this program. Credit will accrue for listed events and activities for individuals serving on a NYSSBA member board.
Board members will earn 20 points for attending the NYSSBA Summit.
