Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Exercise the supervisory and evaluation function for all staff employees within the school, utilizing staff employees and Central Staff members as necessary to obtain pertinent facts and render sound judgments.
  2. Supervise activities of staff relating to the planning, organizing and operation of special services, such as counseling, psychological services and testing.
  3. Oversee the compilation of budget estimates and the conduct of business operations specifically delegated to the school.
  4. Recommended staff appointments and assign personnel to carry out the curricular program.
  5. Assure the proper care and safeguarding of school property, equipment and supplies, and the maintenance of safe and healthful conditions at all times.
  6. Supervise activities relating to extended day activities.
  7. Supervise the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of instructional programs and materials.
  8. Maintain continuing communications and liaisons with parents, parent groups, civic and community sources to achieve understanding and support for school programs and goals.
  9. Set work schedules for teachers and support staff.
  10. Ensure that testing and assessment is carried out according to SED guidelines.
  11. Coordinate staff development and curriculum projects necessary to ensure aligned instruction with standards and performance indicators.
  12. Ensure that safety procedures and emergency plans are up-to-date in the building and coordinate annual practice sessions.
  13. Ensure all required reports and mandates are met per board, local and state requirements.
  14. Counsel new staff members on job-related requirements. Plan and supervise the work of others based on individual strengths and weaknesses and guide their professional growth.
  15. Maintain an atmosphere conducive to teaching and learning in the building.
  16. Show evidence of scholarship and continued professional growth.
  17. Demonstrate ability to design, implement and maintain innovative, creative and exemplary school programs.
  18. Ability to resolve school issues and implement policies and regulations using ingenuity, imagination and resourcefulness.

School Business Administrator

Highland CSD is seeking an experienced Business Administrator to oversee the business and support services of this 1,700 student Ulster County public school district. The successful candidate should have 3+ years experience in a public school business office with a track record of success. The primary responsibility of managing the financial affairs of the district requires a solid understanding and experience with school fund accounting, NYS SED regulations and state aid process and requirements, purchasing and risk management, negotiations, budgeting for the district’s $45M budget, strong analytical skills, and excellent supervisory and communications skills. Success in the position requires a problem-solving, self-starting, team player with ability to understand support service issues and supervise directors of transportation, operations and maintenance, and food service. Experience with school district capital projects is a plus.

The Board of Trustees will offer an initial three year employment agreement with an expectation that the successful candidate will make a three year commitment to the position.
