Michael A. Jaime represents the state’s Caucus of Black School Board Members on the New York State School Boards Association Board of Directors. He is president of the Caucus and was appointed to the NYSSBA board for a one-year term.
NYSSBA provides advocacy, training and information to school boards in support of their mission to govern the state’s public schools. The NYSSBA board establishes policies to supervise, control and direct the business of the Association.
Jaime is in his fourth term on the Elmont Union Free School Board, where he has served as president for the past eight years. He also serves as the vice president of the Sewanahaka Central High School District, representing the Elmont Memorial and Sewanahaka High Schools since 2007.
Jaime is on the executive board and legislative committee of the Nassau-Suffolk School Boards Association. He has been involved with NYSSBA’s Capital Conference (formerly State Legislative Network) and the National School Boards Association’s Advocacy Institute (formerly Federal Relations Network) for the past several years.
Jaime mentors New York City high school students through his involvement with iMentor.org, and provides business coaching advice to students enrolled Virtual Enterprise International (V.E.I.) during the school-year. He also participates in the Education Equity Initiative sponsor by Erase Racism, in Syosset, NY.
Jaime is a managing consultant in the risk and compliance practice of Exiger, LLC in New York City. He has three children.
