Nathan King, first vice president of the Amityville Union Free School District School Board, has been honored as School Board Member of the Week as part of an eight-week campaign celebrating school board service by the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA).

The campaign – entitled “Do You Know Who I Am?” – tells the story of individual school board members such as King and the contributions they make in their communities. The campaign runs through March 21.

King has been a member of the Amityville School Board since 2006. He graduated from Amityville High School, as did three of his four children. He is also a graduate of Long Island University, and recently retired from the state Division of Veteran Affairs.

“I’m very passionate about my school district,” said King, adding that the district is “experiencing a renaissance period.”
