Glen Malia, Vice President of the of the Lakeland School Board of Education, has been honored as School Board Member of the Week, part of an eight-week campaign celebrating school board service by the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA).

The campaign – entitled “Do You Know Who I Am?” – tells the story of individual school board members such as Malia and the contributions they make in their communities. The campaign runs through March 21.

Malia, an attorney, has been on the Lakeland School Board of Education for nine years.   He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Brooklyn Law School.

According to Malia, the best part of serving on a school board is "giving back to the community and feeling I can contribute to the future of American children."
