Yesterday, delegates participating in the 2025 Annual Business Meeting engaged in robust debate on a number of important issues. Nearly 350 delegates considered all 37 proposals that were submitted by the July submission deadline (23 recommended by the Resolutions Committee and 14 not-recommended). By the end of the evening, delegates adopted 24 positions.
Delegates also elected officers for the 2026 calendar year –Christine Schnars as President, Rodney George as 1st Vice President, Brian LaTourette as 2nd Vice President and Thomas Nespeca as Treasurer.
Positions adopted during the Business Meeting will remain in effect for five years, unless they are achieved sooner or otherwise rendered moot. The NYSSBA Governmental Relations team will work towards advancing those proposals that require legislative change to be implemented.
A full list of the positions adopted during yesterday’s Business Meeting can be found below. NYSSBA’s complete list of updated 2026 Position Statements will be distributed in the near future.
We offer our sincere thanks to all delegates who participated in the meeting last evening. The delegates’ participation, engagement and commitment were absolutely critical to the success of the meeting.
