Lewis elected to state School Boards Association Board of Directors

Catherine Lewis of Schenectady was elected to a two-year term as Area 7 Director of the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA). As Area 7 Director, Lewis represents school districts in Albany, Columbia, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren and Washington counties.
Since 2010, Lewis has served on the Schenectady City School Board of Education. She has served 7 years as board president. In addition, Lewis chaired the NYSSBA Resolutions Committee in 2016.
From 2002-2005 Lewis was a member of the Schenectady City Council and worked with the Finance and Public Service Utilities Committee.
Lewis also serves on several boards of directors of organizations that directly service K-12 students. Her service includes leadership positions for YMCA NE NY, Girl Scouts of NE NY, and Hometown Health Center and Safe, Inc.
She is a graduate of Union College and Ohio Wesleyan University.
NYSSBA provides advocacy, training and information to school boards in support of their mission to govern the state’s public schools. The NYSSBA board establishes policies to supervise, control and direct the business of the Association.
