With less than three weeks remaining until the state’s official April 1st budget deadline, both the Senate and Assembly adopted their respective “one-house” budget proposals today. Details summaries of each proposal can be viewed below.
In addition, a three-way comparison of some of the key education proposals from the Governor, Senate and Assembly can be viewed below.

In synthesizing the various budget proposals, we have produced a “Final State Budget Priorities” for use in advocacy during the final weeks until a new state budget is agreed upon. We will be actively discussing these issues, and others, in continued conversations with state policymakers.

Take Action!
We have updated our current state budget Take Action campaign to reflect issues addressed in the Senate and Assembly one-house budgets. We encourage you to send our Take Action email to the Governor and your state legislators, so that your elected officials know the state budget issues that are important to you and your schools. The letter is also customizable, so that you can include your own stories. Please also feel welcome to share this Take Action opportunity with your broader school community.
2025 Resolutions Survey
The 2025 Resolutions Survey was emailed last week to all NYSSBA members. This important survey is designed to gauge member sentiment on a series of important current or potential education issues and is a critical part of your membership. Responses to the survey may be used to develop resolutions for consideration by the delegates at NYSSBA’s Annual Business Meeting, which will be held virtually on Thursday, October 16. Survey results will be included in the 2025 Resolution Toolkit and will be sent to the full membership in mid-April. The survey will be open through March 21.
