Yesterday, delegates participating in the 2024 Annual Business Meeting engaged in robust debate on a number of important issues. Over 350 delegates considered all 37 resolutions that were proposed by the initial July submission deadline (25 recommended by the Resolutions Committee and 12 not-recommended), and voted against considering an additional late resolution. By the end of the evening, delegates adopted 26 positions.
Delegates also elected officers for the 2025 calendar year – Sandra Ruffo as President, Christine Schnars as 1st Vice President, Rodney George as 2nd Vice President and Thomas Nespeca as Treasurer.
Positions adopted during the Business Meeting will remain in effect for five years, unless they are achieved sooner or otherwise rendered moot. The NYSSBA Governmental Relations team will work towards advancing those proposals that require legislative change to be implemented.
A full list of the positions adopted during yesterday’s Business Meeting can be found below. NYSSBA’s complete list of updated 2025 Position Statements will be distributed in the near future.
We offer our sincere thanks to all delegates who participated in the meeting last evening. The delegates’ participation, engagement and commitment were absolutely critical to the success of the meeting.
