FOR RELEASE: December 23, 2020
It is essential that the $900 billion stimulus plan negotiated and passed in an overwhelmingly bipartisan manner by the Senate and the House of Representatives be signed by the president and implemented immediately.
To be sure, this package is not all we had hoped for, and it is not the last federal assistance that will be needed to help states, local governments and public schools dig out and recover from the impacts of the pandemic. But it is an essential step toward recovery. It is a lifeline for schools and students that will help carry us over until more comprehensive federal assistance can be provided to state and local governments.
