William L. Miller elected to national school board post

FOR RELEASE: April 17, 2025

NYSSBA applauds William L.(Bill) Miller on his election to the board of directors of the National School Boards Association (NSBA). He will serve a one-year post as NSBA’s Northeast Region Director. Miller, who is a member of the board of the Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES, also serves on the board of directors of the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA), where he represents school districts in Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, Oneida, Herkimer and Madison counties.

"I am deeply honored and excited to take on this new role with the National School Boards Association as Northeast Region Director," said Miller. I look forward to working with my school board colleagues from across the nation to promote the role of school boards in our system of public education and provide resources for every school board to succeed in its mission of offering a quality education to students."

As Northeast Region Director, Miller will act as a liaison between NSBA and school board members in the northeast region of the United States. Miller says he hopes to bring states who have left NSBA in recent years back into the organization and use ideas and input from other states to make the association better.

"My colleagues on the NYSSBA Board of Directors join me in congratulating Bill on this well-deserved recognition," said NYSSBA President Sandra Ruffo. "This new role will spotlight Bill’s commitment to excellence in school board governance on a national scale."

Miller previously served NYSSBA as President and 1st Vice President. He resides in West Winfield with his wife, Julie.
