Michael J. Masse named 2013 President’s Award recipient

Michael J. Masse, a 20-year school board veteran, has been named the 2013 President’s Award winner by the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA).
The President’s Award recognizes individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions toward the betterment of public education in New York.
"In addition to his 20 years of service on the Fayetteville-Manlius school board, Mike has been NYSSBA’s lighthouse for fiduciary matters,” said NYSSBA President Thomas Nespeca, a member of the Webster school board near Rochester. “He has been sensitive to our members’ financial situations. That is why I chose him for this year’s award.”
Masse has served as NYSSBA treasurer since 2006 and is completing his final year. Before that he represented school districts in central New York as the Area 4 Director. He served on the Fayetteville-Manlius school board from 1993 to 2013.
Masse is senior vice president of government and institutional banking for HSBC USA. He had been senior vice president and director of public banking for HSBC.
Masse holds a master's degree in business administration from Rider University and a master of arts in public administration from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University.
Masse and his wife Shari have two grown children who both graduated from the Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District.
Masse was honored during the Association’s 94th Annual Convention in Rochester on Thursday, Oct. 24th.
