NYS Deputy Secretary of Education Hochman to speak at NYSSBA Conference

School board members bring their voices to the Capitol;
Hear from NYS Deputy Secretary for Education Jere Hochman
Who:      School board members, elected leaders and state education officials
What:     NYSSBA Capital Conference
When:    Sunday, February 28, 2015, 3:30-8:30 p.m., and Monday, February 29 starting at 8:00 a.m.
Where:   Hilton Albany, 40 Lodge Street, Albany, NY
Why:      School board members from across the state unite to discuss education issues
School board members from across the state are uniting to discuss a list of topics including the state funding for school districts, the tax cap, prekindergarten and community schools.
With this year's tax cap allowable growth factor set at 0.12 percent, school board members will ask their legislators to increase the amount of state aid to schools. Board members will also encourage legislators to make the growth factor a consistent 2 percent.
Board members will also hear from Dr. Jere Hochman, Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Deputy Secretary for Education, on the administration's priorities including, funding, Pre-K, and Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.
