NYSSBA partners with VisdomK12 to improve school safety

The New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) and VisdomK12, a company specializing in crowdsourcing review technologies for school districts, have entered into a partnership that will help public school district leaders better understand the attitudes and perspectives of their many stakeholders toward school safety.
VisdomK12's School Safety Review, created in conjunction with the National School Safety Center, is an online tool for school board members who would like to obtain multiple perspectives on the issue of school safety in their district. The technology allows educators, community and business leaders, and parents to assess all possible school security threats and review best practices and model strategies for addressing them.
"With this partnership, NYSSBA and VisdomK12 aim to provide school districts across the state with an important tool for gaining feedback from all who are impacted by the decisions they make – and help them make better ones," said NYSSBA Executive Director Timothy G. Kremer. "In particular, our goal is to help create safe, secure and peaceful schools."
"School safety can be a group effort where the collective wisdom and insight from district stakeholders is used to diagnose potential hazards, safety risks and gaps in school safety plans," said Craig Beytien, Managing Partner of VisdomK12. "Our technology facilitates these stakeholder reviews—quickly and efficiently—so administrators' decisions can be evidence-based, respected and understood."
