Bishop John Williams - Area 9 Director


Bishop John C. Williams is the Area 9 Director for the New York State School Boards Association. As Area 9 Director, he represents school districts in Orange, Dutchess, Sullivan, Ulster and Greene counties.
NYSSBA provides advocacy, training and information to school boards in support of their mission to govern the state's public schools. The NYSSBA board establishes policies to supervise control and direct the business of the Association.
Bishop John C. Williams is Immediate Past President of Enlarged City School District of Middletown Board of Education.
John C. Williams has been a dedicated member of the Enlarged City School District of Middletown Board of Education since 2013, serving five years as Board President and now as Immediate Past President. He also serves as the current President of the Orange County School Board Association and has been an active participant in the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
In addition to his contributions to education, John is the Lead Pastor of Faith Alive Ministries International in Middletown, New York, and the Director of the Chaplaincy Training Institute New York. His ministry travels have taken him across the nation and different parts of the world, sharing the gospel. John is also an accomplished musician, author, playwright, and public speaker, bringing a creative and dynamic approach to his leadership and service.
John’s commitment to community service includes training chaplains throughout the state and mentoring youth for over 35 years. He and his wife, ShaRhonda Williams, are proud parents of two sons and a daughter. John is passionate about fostering equity, enhancing communication between school boards, and advocating for policies that support student success across New York State.
