Pete Nowacki - Area 4 Director


Pete Nowacki currently serves as the Area 4 Director of the New York State School Boards Association. Pete represents school boards in Broome, Cayuga, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Onondaga, Schuyler, Tioga, Tompkins counties, the Cazenovia school district and the DeRuyter school district of Madison County and the South Seneca school district of Seneca County.
NYSSBA provides advocacy, training and information to school boards in support of their mission to govern the state’s public schools. The NYSSBA board establishes policies to supervise, control and direct the business of the Association.
Additionally, Pete serves concurrently as President of the Windsor Board of Education (member since 2001, President since 2006) and Trustee to the Broome-Tioga Board of Cooperative Education Services (2006 – Present).
After graduating high school in West Seneca NY (1985), Pete did a stint in the U.S. Army as a Combat Engineer/Bridge Specialist (1985-1987). Upon completion of service, he entered Buffalo State College where he received a B.S. in Education (1991). He went on to obtain a M.S. in Education from Binghamton University (1998) and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Educational Administration from Scranton University (2016).
He has previously been a Technology Teacher for the Hancock Central School District (1993-1996) and Technology Coordinator for the Sherburne-Earlville Central School District (1996-1998). Currently he is a Network/Systems Engineer for the Unified Court System’s Division of Technology (1998 – Present).
He and his partner currently reside on a small farm in Windsor.
