Labor Relations Specialist

Position Description:
The Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is accepting applications from New York admitted attorneys and 2022 candidates with an interest in education law and public sector labor and employment law to fill the position of Labor Relations Specialist.
The Labor Relations Specialist is responsible for all aspects of collective negotiations, labor relations and providing daily guidance to multiple school districts in Central New York, including serving as chief spokesperson, and representation in grievances, arbitrations and administrative hearings. The position offers a competitive salary and full benefits including health insurance, NYS pension, and the possibility of Public Service Loan Forgiveness.

Anticipated start date: January 3, 2023

Qualifications:

Salary Range:

Salary Range:
The annual salary of the BOCES District Superintendent is received from two sources – the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and Rockland BOCES. Compensation will be determined by the Board of Education on the basis of experience in compliance with state law which has set a salary cap and benefit limits. Benefits are those of management/confidential employees of the New York State Education Department. The length of the contract will be three years. Residency within the Lower Hudson Valley Region is required. As specified in New York State Education Law, District Superintendents of Schools are appointed by the Board of Cooperative Education Services, with the approval of the Commissioner of Education. Continuing service of the District Superintendents is governed by New York State Education Law.

The Director/Principal of Career and Technical Education provides instructional leadership, development, and innovation for our Career and Technical Education programming offered at the BOCES.

This person will share a commitment to our BOCES purpose and values, acting ethically and professionally in all aspects of school leadership. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to equity and culturally responsive leadership, creating a healthy school environment that meets the needs of students and staff. As an instructional leader, this individual will lead CIA initiatives that align with academic and industry standards, leading development of new and restructuring of existing CTE program offerings. This leader will develop professional and productive relationships with BOCES staff, component district staff, and community partners to promote school improvement and student learning.

Qualifications:
Must possess New York State certification as a School District Leader (SDL) and School Building Leader (SBL). Should have at least four years of successful teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to college and career preparation. Prior leadership experience preferred.

Qualifications:
All applicants must possess or be eligible for NYS School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certification. A doctoral degree is helpful but not necessary. Candidates should have experience as a teacher, counselor and/ or related service provider and at least three years successful experience as either a building principal or district administrator. While residency is preferred, it is not necessary.

Salary Range:
$170,000 commensurate with experience
