Leading your governance team can be one of your biggest challenges. Participate in the discussion and realize how you can be an effective board officer given the power of your unique role and responsibilities. Learn how to build your board as a unified productive team with board operations that work and hear how one board effectively uses a board operations manual.

Keynote: Improving Schools from Concept to Reality
Explore best practices used by the nation’s most rapidly improving school boards which were identified as part of a multi-year study conducted by the International Center for Leadership in Education and the Council of Chief State School Officers. These best practices have led to the creation of a culture of high expectations, a shared vision, organizational structures aligned to the district vision, and increased leadership capacity. Develop an action plan to take back to your school board.

Improve your governance team’s effective- ness and apply best practices to the superintendent performance evaluation process. Hear what similarities we can draw between principal and teacher evaluations as we explore what is good evidence, and what effective feedback really is.
