Welcome to the Health Insurance Consortiums section of the NYSSBA website! Health insurance is on everyone’s mind these days. School board members and administrators know full well that the costs of employee health insurance have soared. Here, NYSSBA provides you with informed research on health insurance consortiums with our new research report, “Condition Critical.” 

Below is a link to the report and an introductory video. For school districts that already participate in some form of cooperative health insurance purchasing, the report provides you with a closer look at how consortiums actually work, and the kinds of savings experienced by some school districts and BOCES. For those that do not belong to a consortium, the report offers insight as to whether or not a consortium is right for your district.
